April 2010: movies | Blotting paper

The movie begins with a camera moving through the labyrinthine halls of an opulent hotel and a narration that repeats over and over again. After various tableaux featuring the guests of the hotel, we discover that the two protagonists are a man (Giorgio .... Not that I've read the novel, just that the film is well made and engaging, and that's enough to do the book justice. Christopher Walken is fantastic in this movie. Makes you wonder why he is so ill used elsewhere. ...
